What NOT To Use
Products containing PEG 3350 such as Miralax and similar laxatives are discouraged because they may disrupt the gut microbiome and are not intended for long-term pediatric use. Magnesium oxide should only be short term due to its effect on stomach acid. Liquid magnesium citrate often contains questionable additives.
Senna may cause cramping and dependency if used long term. Gummy supplements frequently contain sugar and artificial colors. Synthetic and processed fibers may increase gas and do not effectively build healthy stool bulk. Too much fiber with low fluid intake can worsen constipation.
