Vitamin C Guide
Sodium ascorbate is presented as additional support for stool softening. Unlike magnesium, it helps soften stool rather than primarily pulling water into the colon. Dosing is individualized since too much may cause diarrhea, and amounts are best divided throughout the day.
When combined with magnesium, lower amounts of each are usually needed. The powder dissolves fully in water and can be prepared ahead of time if the taste is too salty. Sodium ascorbate is preferred for younger children because it is less acidic. Vitamin C also supports tissue health, immune function, and overall metabolism.
